Program Overview

In Kenya today, sexual and reproductive health challenges remain pressing and widespread, especially among women and adolescent girls. Despite significant progress in SRHR services, gaps in access to accurate health information and quality care persist across the country. Only about 57 % of married women use modern contraceptives, leaving 14 % with unmet family planning needs while many others struggle with understanding their fertility and reproductive health rights. Moreover, only around 38 % of women of reproductive age correctly understand their fertility period, which limits informed family planning decisions and contributes to unintended pregnancies. Challenges such as limited knowledge about PCOS, menopause, fertility issues and stigma around reproductive health topics further compound these gaps.

Mwili Wangu SRHR Program responds directly to these challenges by equipping women with critical knowledge, tools, and support to make informed decisions about their bodies and futures. Our holistic approach ensures women access high‑quality education, support services, and community engagement that not only improve individual health outcomes but strengthen the wellbeing of families and communities at large.

What We Do

  • Interactive Webinars & Workshops: Expert‑led sessions on PCOS awareness and management, navigating menopause, understanding fertility, and exploring family planning options.
  • Bulk Messaging Alerts: Registered participants receive tailored SRHR messages and reminders directly to their phones, helping demystify complex health information and reinforce positive health behaviors.
  • Community Health Advocates: We train and support community health volunteers to serve as trusted SRHR ambassadors, connecting women to services, answering questions, and promoting peer‑to‑peer learning.
  • Health Screening & Outreach Drives: In partnership with health facilities, we organize outreach events that provide free or low‑cost screenings and referrals for SRHR concerns, reducing barriers to early detection and care.

Why It Matters

Mwili Wangu is more than a health program, it’s a movement for empowerment and positive societal change. By prioritizing women’s SRHR:

  • Women gain agency over their bodies and reproductive choices, leading to improved health and dignity.
  • Communities benefit from reduced unintended pregnancies, healthier families, and stronger social support systems.
  • Society progresses toward gender equality, educational attainment, and economic growth as women are empowered to thrive.
