what we do.

At Jonica Foundation, we work alongside vulnerable mothers as they heal, rebuild, and rediscover their strength. Our programs are designed to meet women where they are, emotionally, socially, and economically because real empowerment happens when support feels human, practical, and honest.

We do not believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Every mother carries a story, and within that story is strength waiting to be unlocked. Our work helps women turn pain into purpose, and resilience into opportunity.

Empowering Women Through Knowledge, Health, and Action

In Kenya today, sexual and reproductive health challenges remain pressing and widespread, especially among women and adolescent girls.

Amplifying Community Voices, Driving Action

Despite significant efforts to improve women’s health and empowerment, many programs fail to fully capture the real needs, experiences, and feedback of the women they aim to serve

Amplifying Community Voices, Driving Action

In Kenya, despite laws and policies that uphold sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), many women and girls still lack access to accurate information, supportive services, and platforms to share their lived experiences.

Strengthening Women’s Health Access and Economic Resilience

Across Kenya, many women especially vulnerable mothers, widows, and women in low-income communities face significant barriers to accessing sexual and reproductive health (SRHR) services and sustainable livelihoods.

HOW WE WORKS.

At Jonica Foundation, we believe meaningful change starts with listening. Our approach is participatory, placing mothers at the centre of every stage, from program design to implementation and reflection. We work with women, not for them, recognising that they understand their realities better than anyone else.

Our work is holistic because a mother’s challenges are never just one-dimensional. Emotional healing, social belonging, health, and economic stability are deeply connected. We therefore combine psychosocial support, storytelling, skills development, and livelihood opportunities, ensuring that growth is balanced and sustainable rather than temporary.

Collaboration is key to our impact. We actively partner with healthcare professionals, community leaders, civil society organisations, media practitioners, and local institutions to strengthen referral systems and expand support networks around mothers. Our programs are continuously informed by evidence, feedback, and learning—allowing us to adapt, improve, and remain responsive to real, lived experiences.

Above all, we honour dignity. Mothers are not seen as beneficiaries of charity, but as partners in change whose strength, wisdom, and resilience drive transformation.

We are committed to accountability and learning. Jonica Foundation measures impact using both numbers and narratives, because transformation is not only seen in statistics but also felt in lived experiences.

We track measurable outcomes such as improved household income, business survival and growth, increased access to health information and referrals, and engagement reach through our podcast and storytelling platforms. We also assess shifts in confidence, self-esteem, and community attitudes through feedback, surveys, and dialogue sessions.

Equally important are the stories of change, women who regain confidence, start earning, speak openly about their health, or become mentors to others. These insights help us understand what works, what needs improvement, and how best to scale our impact responsibly while staying grounded in our mission.

Sustainability at Jonica Foundation is about continuity, ownership, and long-term impact. Our model blends diverse income streams, including podcast sponsorships, donor and grant funding, corporate partnerships, and social enterprise reinvestment.

We also invest in people. Mothers who have benefited from our programs are encouraged to return as peer mentors, storytellers, and community mobilisers—ensuring that knowledge, strength, and opportunity circulate within communities rather than ending with one intervention.

By building strong partnerships, empowering alumni, and reinvesting in grassroots solutions, we ensure that our work continues to grow organically and sustainably. This way, empowerment does not stop with one mother, it ripples outward to families, communities, and future generations.

Jonica Foundation is guided by a Board of Directors that provides strategic oversight, ensures accountability, and upholds strong governance. Our management team leads day-to-day operations, program implementation, financial management, and communications. We are further supported by an advisory committee of professionals offering technical guidance in mental health, entrepreneurship, and community development.

We welcome partnerships with government institutions, NGOs, private sector actors, media houses, and faith-based organisations committed to empowering women and strengthening families.
